Online Tutoring Booking Guide
Compare online tutors, prepare a first lesson and agree fees, time zones and feedback before booking.
1. Describe the problem before choosing a package
Write down the subject, class, exact curriculum and what the learner finds difficult. Send one attempted question or a short writing sample. Explain whether the goal is catching up, preparing for an assessment or developing a regular study routine. Use the worldwide tutoring directory to find a relevant subject or country page.
2. Check course fit and teaching approach
Ask the tutor to discuss a question from your course and how they would diagnose the difficulty. A list of qualifications alone does not show whether the explanation suits the learner. Agree how guided examples, independent attempts and feedback will be balanced. Do not rely on guaranteed grades or instant-results promises.
3. Put appointment details in writing
Share your country, city or named time zone, the lesson date and two possible appointment windows. Confirm the final local time, especially around daylight-saving changes. Agree the lesson platform, expected connection quality, cancellation notice and what happens if a connection fails. For younger learners, a parent or guardian should manage the booking and communication arrangements.
4. Compare quotations consistently
Ask which currency is being quoted and how long each lesson lasts. Check the number of weekly lessons, feedback outside the session and whether a trial has a charge. Discuss payment timing and refund or rescheduling terms before committing. A low hourly figure is not directly comparable to a shorter lesson or a different feedback arrangement.
5. Review the first lessons
Choose an observable learning goal. After a few sessions, ask the learner to attempt a fresh task without notes and explain the method. Review corrected work and whether the practice workload is manageable. If the match is unsuitable, discuss changes before buying a longer block of tuition.
6. Keep learning and assessed work separate
Tutors can explain concepts, create practice and review a learner’s attempt within school rules. Assessed submissions must remain the student’s own work. Do not request impersonation, examination assistance or a completed assignment to hand in as your own.
