O Level Exam Revision: Build a Weekly Tuition Plan

A revision plan should do more than divide a textbook into chapters. It should give O Level students repeated chances to retrieve ideas, practise questions and correct mistakes without neglecting school work.

Audit topics before making the timetable

List topics from the current syllabus and mark each as confident, uncertain or needing help. Use a few questions to check those judgements. Bring the uncertain areas to tuition instead of spending every session rereading comfortable chapters.

Give each session a clear purpose

Choose one or two connected goals for each lesson. A mathematics session might focus on forming equations; a science session might focus on explaining a relationship using evidence. Ask the tutor to leave a small, relevant practice task that can be completed before the next meeting.

Use practice questions in stages

Begin with untimed questions to check understanding. Move to timed sections once the student can explain the method. Review the wording of the question, the reasoning and the final answer. Use officially available materials appropriate to the examination board.

Make the plan sustainable

Leave space for rest, school deadlines and unexpected difficulties. Keep an error log with the cause of each mistake and a corrected example. Revisit that log in later lessons. If the student repeatedly misses tasks, reduce the workload and discuss what is preventing completion.
